On the 14th of May 1993 I walked through the door of my flat on Raikes Parade, Blackpool and bumped into this long haired guy who I had never spoken to before.
Tony for some reason asked if I wanted to a brew and a chat, and the rest, as they say is history!
That was the Saturday, on the Sunday of that weekend I attended for the first time Blackpool Christian Fellowship, an Elim Pentecostal Church and although I ran out the door at the end of the service, come the Monday morning I was back in Tony's flat saying a sinners prayer with three other Christians who Tony knew.
What followed was extrodinary. I got hold of Bob Gordon's book, Foundations Of Christian Living, and proceeded to hound Tony every single night of the week for help in going through it.
We would be up till all hours of the night, studying, praying and listening to one particular praise tape.. no CD's back in 93.
John Michale Talbot became our way to heaven, or at least one way. We would listen to his, Come Worship the Lord album agan and again and again, how the cassette never broke I have no idea..
Without this brother I would not know Jesus, would not know any of the other men I have listed here... so I have much to thank him for, and all this because he wrote my name on a piece of paper two weeks before May 16th 93, "Witness to Chris Harper" is what he wrote.. Praise God that he did!
